Dakre Hydropower Project

(Thien Tan Group) – Following the success of the Thien Tan Hydropower Plant (also known as Ha Nang Hydropower) in Tra Bong, Quang Ngai, Thien Tan Group has continued to invest in a new hydropower project of impressive scale. With a capacity seven times larger than its predecessor, this project marks a powerful step forward in the group's clean energy development strategy.

The DakRe Hydropower project is constructed on the Dak Re stream, located within Hieu Commune, Kon Plong District, Kon Tum Province (now Mang Den Village, Mang Den Commune, Quang Ngai Province) and Ba Xa Commune, Ba To District, Quang Ngai Province. This region possesses favorable terrain and natural conditions for hydropower development. This is a large-scale project, methodically invested in and utilizing modern technical solutions to optimize the exploitation of available hydropower resources.

Construction of the DakRe Hydropower project began in 2016, after completing all legal procedures and environmental impact assessments as required. Throughout the process, Thien Tan Group worked closely with functional agencies and local authorities to ensure the progress, quality, and safety of the construction.

With an installed capacity of approximately 60 MW, DakRe Hydropower is expected to provide a stable and sustainable power source, contributing significantly to clean energy output for the Central Highlands region as well as the national power grid. The project has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Vietnam Electricity (EVN), creating a solid legal basis for operation and connection to the national grid.

The dam and reservoir of the DakRe Hydropower Project are designed and built to high technical standards, playing a crucial role in regulating flow and ensuring stable power generation efficiency. This facility not only serves water storage for power generation but also helps regulate water resources, minimizing the risk of floods during the rainy season and maintaining reasonable flow for the downstream area during the dry season.

The DakRe hydropower dam is equipped with three modern radial gates, which play a vital role in flood discharge and adjusting the water level in the reservoir. This gate system is designed to operate flexibly, with the ability to respond quickly to hydrological situations, helping to actively control water flow and ensure absolute safety for the structure as well as the downstream area during the flood season. Investing in the three-gate system not only enhances the operational efficiency of the reservoir but also demonstrates Thien Tan Group's commitment to dam safety management, strictly complying with regulations on disaster prevention and hydropower reservoir operation.

The DakRe Hydropower reservoir is designed with a reasonable capacity, suitable for the natural terrain, to minimize impact on the ecosystem and the lives of surrounding residents. During the construction and operation process, Thien Tan Group focuses on environmental protection measures and safety management for the dam and reservoir, strictly following regulations to contribute to a green, sustainable, and long-term ecological space for the project area.

One of the prominent features of DakRe Hydropower is the nearly 13 km long tunnel and pipeline system, connecting the Kon Tum area with Quang Ngai, helping to effectively utilize the natural head difference to produce electricity. This work was designed and constructed according to strict technical standards, ensuring safety for long-term operation.

In addition to technical factors, Thien Tan Group is also deeply concerned with environmental protection and social welfare. Throughout the investment and construction process, the project has strictly complied with regulations on the protection of forest resources and water sources, while creating jobs for local workers, contributing to improving the socio-economic life in the project area.

The DakRe Hydropower project is not merely an energy project but also demonstrates the strategic vision and project execution capabilities of Thien Tan Group in the renewable energy sector. Through this project, Thien Tan Group continues to show its commitment to clean energy development goals, emission reduction, and sustainable development, in line with the general orientation of the country.
